Mrs Alison Lannigan MB ChB MD FRCS graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School and trained in general surgery in the West of Scotland. She was appointed to her current consultant post at University Hospital Wishaw in 2001 as a general surgeon with special interests in breast and thyroid surgery. She has been Board lead for breast cancer services and Clinical Director for general surgery. She is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. Mrs Lannigan has particular interests in surgical education and training and is a former Director of Surgical Education at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow where she is currently surgical Vice President. She is an IMRCS examiner, a former reviewer with the MRCS national paper panel and served on the general surgery national selection panel. She is an examiner for the intercollegiate specialty board exams in general surgery and is the Training programme director for general surgery in the West region of the Scottish Deanery.
